Weekly Notices - 29th Sept 2024
As we draw closer to our centennial celebrations, I am reminded of how privileged we are to be worshipping in this sacred spiritual home built by the hands of many faithful souls now resting in the love of God. Our deep gratitude goes out to our Vestry Team for organizing our up-coming centennial.
We have much to be grateful for and as we delve into the theme of our worship services this week, “Living faithfully in the faith; acting in service of other people” we ought but give God thanks for His encouragement over us as we continue to live the legacy of servanthood and worship that was planted on this land, gifted to us by church forefathers of years gone by!
We are deeply grateful too, that after so much hard labour by our Vestry, we now have a new clergy house to move to. The sale of our old vicarage and the purchase of this new residence only came about through the diligence and determination of the team you chose to lead you, and for this I am humbly appreciative! The move into 2 Brookford Pl, Westmorland will take place around the 8th of October.
May God always bless St Aug’s
Your Friend and Vicar, Kofe

Centennial Weekend - 12th & 13th October
Last it was flagged that there was a chance we would have to change the venue for our Centennial Lunch. Please note:
Our Centennial Lunch will now take place at the Old Stone House
30 Shalamar Drive.
This will be a BYO drinks luncheon, and we look forward to being with you on Sunday 13th Oct at 1pm.
On Sunday morning, 13th Oct, we will be holding a Combined 10am service to celebrate our centennial as a parish. We can call it our St Aug’s
Independence Day, when we moved away from under St Saviours Beckenham and became a parish in our own right.
To mark this special occasion, we will be hosting Bishop Peter who will preach and preside over our Eucharist.
Please mark this date and bring a plate to help us at morning tea.
Please mark Sat 5th Oct in your dairies, and join us here at St Aug’s for a working bee
to spruce up our spiritual home in preparation for our Centennial.
Bring your dusters, your window cleaning gear, your brooms and you energy for a 9.30am start.
Remember that many hands make light work!!!
Our organist Loki and friends (on trumpets) play a short snippet of the Grand March from the opera Aida by Verdi on 18 August 2024
Missing Communion Chalice
One of our Communion chalices has gone walk-about, and this is a plea to anyone who may have seen it, to contact the Vicar please. On this note, I encourage all those rostered on as Communion Assistants at each of our respective services to please be a little more careful when packing our Communion vessels away. I do appreciate the work you do; however, it has been noticed that on the odd occasion, the vessels have been left sitting on the credence table instead of being washed and put away.
Diocesan Prayer Community - Reminder
The Diocesan Prayer Community has been operating since March this year. This Community identifies the issues which challenge our Diocese (and parish!) and join each other in praying for those issues.
Do consider signing up to pray with others from other parishes. You will receive regular updates and forms of encouragement from our Archdeacon of Regeneration & Mission, and it only takes a few minutes of our time each day or week.
Please let the Vicar know if you’re interested.
